Welcome to Leaside

Most well-known in Toronto Real Estate Board’s C11 district is Leaside, which is bordered by Thorncliffe Park.

C11 is defined by Glenvale Boulevard, the West Don River, and Eglinton Avenue East to the north, the Don Valley Parkway to the south and east, and Bayview Avenue to the west.

Leaside is primarily sought after by families with young children who move in and often stay for a lifetime. It is also known as an area with a high number of people who walk to work, cyclists, university grads, and young professionals in the management/education/government sectors. Just a short 5 minute drive to the Don Valley Parkway also makes this neighbourhood favourable for commuters.

Homes in Leaside consist primarily of detached homes, followed by condos and semi-detached homes. 2-storey houses are the most common style and the majority of detached layouts feature 3 bedrooms. Home styles are consistent in looks to other Toronto uptown and midtown areas with Tudors built in the 1930s and 1940s being the most prominent design. Custom, new build homes are becoming more popular in the area as Leaside tends to attract middle- to upper-income families who value the traditional community vibe. Properties in Leaside also tend to offer larger than average lot sizes, private driveways, and in most cases, attached or detached garages.

Few areas of Toronto can match Leaside in terms of recreational facilities. Leaside Memorial Community Gardens is home to an indoor ice arena and swimming pool, and curling rink and an auditorium. Parks feature exercise trails, one of Toronto proper’s only horseback riding stables, tennis courts, baseball diamonds, and an outdoor natural ice rink in the winter.

Leaside’s vibrant shopping strip runs primarily along Bayview Avenue from Millwood Road to Manor Road, boasting chain stores, independent boutiques, restaurants and cafes. More recently, the Leaside SmartCentre was added, offering big box stores such as Home Depot, Winners, and Best Buy in close proximity.
